The Top Five Reasons to Book A Self-Catering Cottage

Fish on the BBQ

As hotel costs creep up whilst offering less, more people are choosing to holiday in a self-catering cottage where they can enjoy the comforts of home and design a holiday on their own terms. At Croft Meadows Farm, our self-catering holiday cottage gives you a cozy retreat where you’re in control of your holiday. If you need further reasons why a self-catering cottage would be best for your next family friendly holiday, see below for our top five reasons to book.

1. A chance to live like a local

One of the best parts of travelling is having the chance to explore a different way of life, and what better way to do that than by living like a local. Our self-catering cottage offers you a home away from home where you can taste everyday life by sampling local specialities (oatcakes anyone?), try recipes using ingredients from North Staffordshire farms, and host a barbeque on the patio (maybe Mia will stop by for a visit).

2. Control your cuisine

Your holiday should give you a break from your everyday, but it shouldn’t break your wallet. Our self-catering holiday cottage lets you decide whether you want to have a night on the town, or enjoy a leisurely meal whilst planning your trip to the Peak District. With the ability to prepare your own meals (and accommodate special diets and picky eaters), you don’t have to worry about your budget being eaten by the cost of take-out and restaurants.

3. Freedom from routine

Holidays mean that you can take charge of your schedule, but with hotels, you have to follow set timings for housekeeping, breakfast (if even available), check in and check out. Choosing a self-catering cottage lets you decide whether to hit the trails early or enjoy a leisurely lie-in with a late breakfast and strong cuppa. At the Croft Meadows holiday cottage, you are in control of your holiday.

4. Plenty of space for the whole family

For a family friendly holiday, everyone is more comfortable with a little more space (especially mum and dad). Our holiday cottage sleeps eight comfortably in five bedrooms (three double beds, and two single beds). We know how difficult it can be to travel with the little ones. That’s why we include a travel cot, a stair gate, a high chair, children’s plates, cutlery, and beakers, as well as a bed guard and a selection of children-friendly DVDs. Though staying in a hotel means leaving behind your four-legged family member, we welcome one well-behaved dog at Croft Meadows Farm so that your holiday includes the whole family.

5. Privacy to relax

In hotels, staff and other guests surround you, making it difficult to enjoy a refreshing holiday in peace and quiet. At Croft Meadows Farm, each room of our holiday cottage is just for you, free of unwanted distractions. Relax comfortably knowing that your tranquil holiday will not be interrupted.
